Lehning, Kansas State clinch a share of the Big 12 title

Mar 6, 2008 - 6:37 AM LAWRENCE, Kansas (Ticker) -- Shalee Lehning had a career-high 29 points and 16 rebounds as No. 17 Kansas State posted a 61-50 victory over Kansas in Big 12 Conference action on Wednesday.

Kimberly Dietz added 16 points for the Wildcats (21-8, 13-3 Big 12), who clinched at least a share of the conference title with the win. Kansas State will win the Big 12 outright if Baylor loses to Oklahoma State on Thursday.

The Wildcats held a four-point lead at the break but opened the second half on a 10-2 run to take a 37-25 lead with 17:02 to play. The Jayhawks fought back to cut the deficit to 52-50 on a layup by LaChelda Jacobs with just over four minutes remaining, but Kansas State would score the game's final nine points to secure the win.

Danielle McCray had 17 points to lead the Jayhawks (15-14, 4-12), who shot 39 percent (20-of-51) from the floor.
