No. 7 Stanford reaches seventh straight Pac-10 final
Mar 10, 2008 - 1:31 AM SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) -- Jayne Appel had 14 points, seven rebounds and four blocks to lead No. 7 Stanford to a 78-45 victory over UCLA on Sunday in a Pac-10 tournament semifinal.The top-seeded Cardinal (29-3) will be in Monday's conference final for the seventh consecutive year. Stanford will face No. 9 California, a 65-61 winner over Arizona State, in Sunday's other semifinal.
The Cardinal won both regular-season meetings on the way to their eighth straight regular-season conference title.
Candice Wiggins had 13 points, seven rebounds and six steals in Stanford's 17th consecutive victory. J.J. Hones added 12 points and six assists for the Cardinal, who had a commanding 34-16 lead at halftime thanks to an 8-for-30 (26.7 percent) effort from the floor by the Bruins (16-15).
Doreena Campbell led UCLA with nine points.
