Top-ranked UConn advances to Big East title game
Mar 11, 2008 - 12:46 AM HARTFORD, Connecticut (Ticker) -- Tina Charles scored 21 points and Renee Montgomery added 15 lead No. 1 Connecticut to a 74-47 rout of Pittsburgh in a Big East conference tournament semifinal matchup on Monday.Connecticut led 44-22 at the half and never led by less than 20 the rest of the way while advancing to the title game for the fourth straight season.
The Huskies (31-1) will be looking for their third title in four years on Tuesday when they meet either No. 18 West Virginia or Louisville in the championship game.
Ketia Swanier scored 10 points for UConn, which shot 52 percent (30-of-58) and outrebounded Pittsburgh, 47-34.
Shavonte Zellous scored 11 points and Marcedes Walker added 10 for Pitt (22-10).
