Lacey lifs Iowa State into Big 12 semifinals

Mar 12, 2008 - 10:11 PM KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) -- Allison Lacey completed a three-point play with 0.4 seconds remaining as Iowa State stunned Mo. 15 Kansas State, 66-65, in overtime in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Conference tournament on Wednesday.

Lacey drove the length of the court to tie the game on a layup while getting fouled, then hit the free throw to propel the Cyclones (20-11) into Wednesday's semifinals.

Iowa State will next face No. 12 Texas A&M, a 65-39 winner over Missouri in Wednesday's first quarterfinal contest.

Lacey scored six of her 17 points in the final 11 seconds as Iowa State overcame a six-point deficit in the last minute of overtime to oust the top-seeded Wildcats.

Lacey's 3-pointer pulled the Cyclones within 64-63 with 11 seconds remaining. Danielle Zanotti hit 1-of-2 from the line a second later to give Kansas State (21-9) a 65-63 lead.

Heather Ezell paced Iowa State with 26 points, making a Big 12 tournament-record eight 3-pointers. In two tournament games, she is a combined 15-of-24 from the arc.

Marlies Gipson scored 16 points and Shalee Lehning added 15 for Kansas State.
