Vanderbilt never challenged by Montana

Mar 23, 2008 - 5:45 AM ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (Ticker) -- Hannah Tuomi scored 14 points as fourth-seeded Vanderbilt breezed to a 75-47 victory over Montana in a first-round game of the NCAA Tournament's Spokane Regional on Saturday.

Christina Wirth had 13 points and Liz Sherwood 12 for the Commodores (24-8), which used a 19-0 run in the first half to take control of the game.

Vanderbilt shot 50 percent (18-of-36) in the opening 20 minutes en route to taking a 45-22 lead at the break.

Mandy Morales was the only player to score in double figures with 11 points and eight rebounds for Montana (25-7), which committed 22 turnovers.

The Commodores advance to face fifth-seeded West Virginia on Monday.
