Vaughn carries Rutgers past Iowa State
Mar 25, 2008 - 4:50 AM GREENSBORO, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Kia Vaughn scored 23 points to lead No. 2 seed Rutgers to a 69-58 victory over seventh-seeded Iowa State in a Greensboro Regional second-round game Monday night.Vaughn finished 9-of-12 from the field to help the Scarlet Knights (26-6) shoot 54 percent (26-of-48) from the floor.
Epiphanny Prince added 17 points for Rutgers, while advanced to a "Sweet 16" matchup with sixth-seeded George Washington.
After Iowa State (21-13) cut a 10-point halftime lead to 45-41, Prince buried back-to-back 3-pointers to stem the rally push the lead back to 10 points.
Heather Ezell scored 19 points and Amanda Nisleit added 15 points for the Cyclones, who committed 18 turnovers and shot just 9-of-26 from the arc.
