Vanderbilt rallies behind Wirth

Mar 25, 2008 - 5:03 AM SPOKANE, Washington (Ticker) -- Christina Wirth scored 13 of her 21 points in the second half as fourth-seeded Vanderbilt rallied for a 64-46 victory over No. 5 West Virginia on Monday night in the second round of the Spokane Regional.

Wirth hit all four of her 3-pointers after the intermission as the Commodores (25-8) erased a 29-27 halftime deficit by shooting a blistering 58 percent (14-of-24) from the floor.

Jessica Mooney added 11 points, including six in a decisive 23-4 run, for Vanderbilt, which will meet top-seeded Maryland in the "Sweet 16."

Olayinka Sanni scored 14 points and Meg Bulger added 13 for West Virginia (25-8), which shot a dreadful 23 percent (7-of-30) in the second half.

The Mountaineers hit 5-of-11 3-pointers in the opening 20 minutes but made just one in seven attempts in the second half.
