Texas A&M rolls to rare spot in "Sweet 16"

Mar 25, 2008 - 6:31 AM BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (Ticker) -- Danielle Gant scored 21 points and second-seeded Texas A&M rolled to a 63-39 victory over No. 10 Hartford in second-round action in the Oklahoma City Regional on Monday.

Gant, an Oklahoma City native, had 11 points in the first half as the Aggies built a 34-19 lead. Hartford committed 12 first-half turnovers which led to 19 of Texas A&M's 34 points in the first half.

The Aggies (28-7) last advanced to the regional semifinals in 1994. They await the winner of Tuesday's second-round matchup between third-seeded Duke (24-9) or sixth-seeded Arizona State (22-10) on Sunday at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City.

Danielle Hood scored 13 points and Erica Beverly had nine and 10 rebounds for Hartford (28-6), which committed 25 turnovers and shot just 34 percent (13-of-38 ).
