Davenport dominates Army as Ohio State rolls
Nov 12, 2006 - 10:59 PM WEST POINT, New York (Ticker) -- Jessica Davenport got Ohio State's season off to a flying start.Davenport dominated inside as the seventh-ranked Lady Buckeyes coasted to a 77-41 triumph over Army in the inaugural Maggie Dixon Classic.
In the first game of her senior season, Davenport scored 22 points on 9-of-10 shooting from the field and 4-of-4 from the foul line. She also added 11 rebounds and four blocks in 24 minutes.
Brandie Hoskins contributed 13 points and Tamarah Riley chipped in 10 for Ohio State (1-0), which shot 55 percent (32-of-58) and held a 43-21 advantage on the boards.
Cara Enright scored 20 points and Alex McGuire added 10 for Army (0-1), which shot just 30 percent (16-of-53), including 5-of-31 in the second half. The Lady Knights made just 3-of-15 3-pointers in the contest and had almost twice as many turnovers (15) as assists (nine).
