Fowles, LSU heading to another Final Four
Apr 1, 2008 - 4:02 AM NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- Sylvia Fowles scored 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Louisiana State to a 56-50 victory over North Carolina on Monday in the New Orleans Regional final.The second-seeded Tigers advanced to their fifth straight Final Four with the win and will meet either Tennessee or Texas A&M in the national semifinals on Sunday in Tampa, Florida.
Fowles was 10-of-18 from the field and added five blocks while Quianna Chaney had 13 points for LSU (31-5), which won despite shooting 38 percent (20-of-53) from the field.
Top-seeded North Carolina (33-3) was looking to extend a Final Four streak of its own, but was denied a third consecutive trip by Fowles and company.
LaToya Pringle scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds but was the only player in double figures for the Tar Heels.
