Paris leads Oklahoma to tourney title
Nov 19, 2006 - 4:47 AM HONOLULU (Ticker) -- Courtney Paris scored 18 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead No. 3 Oklahoma to a 76-56 win over Hawaii in the Waikiki Beach Marriott Classic championship game.A 6-4 sophomore center, Paris earned MVP honors and recorded her 31st consecutive double-double even though she was limited to 24 minutes because of foul trouble.
Twin sister Ashley Paris added 14 points for the Sooners, her third consecutive game in double figures.
The Sooners (3-0), who extended their regular-season winning streak to 17 games, dominated the backboards, outrebounding the Rainbow Wahine, 48-30.
Chelsi Welch scored 14 points and Amanda Thompson added 11 for Oklahoma, which shot 44 percent (30-of-69) from the field.
Janevia Taylor scored 12 points to lead Hawaii (1-1), which was held to 35 percent shooting (18-of-52) and committed 20 turnovers.
