Allen helps Ohio State survive Boston College in double OT
Nov 22, 2006 - 3:46 AM COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) -- Star Allen scored five of her 16 points in the second overtime as No. 6 Ohio State outlasted Boston College, 80-72.The Lady Buckeyes (3-0) also received 20 points from Brandie Hoskins and 19 and 11 rebounds from Jessica Davenport. Allen finished with 16 points and nine boards.
Ohio State did a masterful job defensively as Boston College (3-1) scored only two points in the second overtime, did not make a basket over the final 2:57, and finished at 43 percent (27-of-62) shooting overall.
The Lady Buckeyes shot just 43 percent (28-of-64) themselves but made up for it by forcing 27 turnovers.
Kathrin Ress scored 23 points and pulled down 10 rebounds and Elisabeth Egnell added 16 and 11 for the Lady Eagles, who rallied from a 17-point deficit with 10:25 remaining in regulation.
