Wiggins' big game fuels Stanford over Missouri

Nov 22, 2006 - 6:41 AM PALO ALTO, California (Ticker) -- Perhaps Missouri's players should take some shooting lessons from Candice Wiggins.

Wiggins scored 21 points as No. 11 Stanford put together an impressive first half en route to a 75-60 win against Missouri.

A junior guard, Wiggins made 8-of-16 shots from the floor and all four of her free throws to lead Stanford's 47 percent (29-of-61) shooting charge.

The Cardinal (2-1) held a 39-22 advantage at halftime as they shot 52 percent (15-of-29) in the first half while holding the Tigers to only 27 percent (8-of-30).

Missouri (3-1) finished at only 32 percent (20-of-61) for the contest and also committed 17 turnovers.

Kristen Newlin scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Brooke Smith also scored 14 for Stanford, which dominated on the glass, 43-32.

Alyssa Hollins registered 14 points and Jessra Johnson chipped in 12 for the Tigers, but Tiffany Brooks managed only 11 on 3-of-17 shooting.
