McCoughtry keeps Louisville undefeated
Nov 25, 2006 - 6:58 AM SANTA BARBARA, California (Ticker) -- Angel McCoughtry kept Louisville unbeaten with a pair of clutch shots.McCoughtry scored 25 points and the 25th-ranked Cardinals held on for a 72-66 victory over Cal Santa Barbara.
Louisville (5-0) led by as many as 10 points in the second half before Whitney Warren rallied UC Santa Barbara, putting her team ahead, 61-59, on a layup with 5:20 to play.
On the ensuing possession, McCoughtry buried a 3-pointer with 5:01 left that gave the Cardinals the lead for good, 62-61.
McCoughtry ended the Gauchos' upset bit by converting a three-point play to push the lead to 69-63 with 40 seconds left.
Jazz Covington scored 15 points for Louisville, which shot 49 percent.
Whitney scored 18 and Jenna Green added 14 for UC Santa Barbara (1-3).
