Williams, Tigers rout Eastern Washington

Nov 25, 2006 - 10:33 PM SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- Mesha Williams scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds off the bench as No. 9 Louisiana State rolled to a 105-52 triumph over Eastern Washington in the UTSA Thanksgiving Classic.

A 6-3 junior, Williams shot 8-of-12 from the floor and hauled in 11 offensive rebounds to pace five Tigers in double figures. Sylvia Fowles had 17 points and seven boards in just 17 minutes while Quianna Chaney chipped in 11 points and four steals.

Erica White scored 10 points and dished out eight assists and Ashley Thomas had 10 points for LSU (7-1), which shot 53 percent (43-of-81) and enjoyed a 52-27 advantage on the glass.

The Tigers jumped out to a 56-19 lead at the break after limiting the Eagles (3-3) to just 19 percent (5-of-27) shooting over the opening 20 minutes.

Katy Baker had 12 points and eight rebounds for Eastern Washington, which shot just 4-of-22 from the arc and committed 27 turnovers.
