Davenport carries Ohio State to Buckeye Classic title

Nov 26, 2006 - 10:41 PM COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) -- Jessica Davenport made sure that Ohio State continued to own its tournament.

Davenport scored 22 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as the sixth-ranked Buckeyes rolled to an 83-43 victory over Montana in the title game of the Buckeye Classic.

Ohio State (5-0) captured the tournament for the sixth consecutive time, winning its 12th straight game in the event.

Davenport shot 6-of-11 from the field and Brandie Hoskins finished with 17 points and eight assists for the Buckeyes, who shot 57 percent (34-of-60) and held a 49-24 advantage in rebounding.

Davenport was named the tournament's MVP for the third time in her career.

Marscilla Packer and Tamarah Riley scored 11 points apiece for Ohio State, which built a 42-22 lead at the half and cruised thereafter.

Sonya Rogers scored 15 points for the Grizzlies (3-1), who shot 29 percent (17-of-59).
