Cattell carries No. 18 DePaul past Detroit

Dec 16, 2006 - 4:01 AM DETROIT (Ticker) -- Erin Cattell scored 13 points to lead five players in double figures as 18th-ranked DePaul cruised to an 81-57 triumph over Detroit.

Jenna Rubino had 12 points and eight rebounds and Erin Carney added 12 and seven for the Blue Devils, who held their opponent to just 34 percent (10-of-29) from the floor in the opening 20 minutes en route to a 34-25 lead at intermission.

DePaul (8-1) was never threatened in the the second half as it shot 48 percent (17-of-35) and outscored Detroit, 47-32.

Caprice Smith and Sam Quigley scored 10 points apiece for the Blue Devils, who improved to 66-6 when holding opponents under 70 points since 2003.

Brigid Mulroy scored 22 points and Sandi Brown chipped in 12 and eight rebounds for Detroit (1-8), which shot 31 percent (22-of-70) and dropped its seventh consecutive game.
