Monmouth forces 4 turnovers to beat Duquesne 17-10

Sep 19, 2009 - 9:02 PM WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.(AP) -- David Sinisi ran for 122 yards and a touchdown and Monmouth forced four second-half turnovers to beat Duquesne 17-10 on Saturday.

The Hawks (1-2, 1-0 Northeast Conference) trailed 10-7 after Duquesne's Kevin Rombach connected with Marek Lapinski on an 11-yard pass with 32 seconds left in the first half. Rombach finished with 252 yards passing and two interceptions for the Dukes (1-2, 0-1).

But Monmouth tied the game at 10-10 in the third quarter on Eric McCutchen's 30-yard field. Duquesne took over at its own 4-yard line and drove past midfield before Monmouth's Kendall Haley intercepted a Rombach pass, returning it 65 yards for a touchdown as the Hawks sealed the game.

Sinisi, who finished with 32 carries, scored on a 1-yard run in the first quarter.

Cleodis Williams led the Dukes with 109 rushing yards on 23 carries.
