Wilson leads Hofstra past James Madison 24-17

Oct 4, 2009 - 12:45 AM HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.(AP) -- Dave Wilson caught two touchdown passes to help Hofstra beat James Madison 24-17 on Saturday.

Steve Probst, who threw for 76 yards, connected with Wilson on a 34-yard touchdown to give the Pride (3-2, 1-1 Colonial Athletic Association) a 14-3 lead in the second quarter.

The Dukes (2-2, 0-1) cut the lead to 14-10 on a 37-yard touchdown run by Justin Thorpe, who finished with 96 yards rushing on 18 carries. But Wilson's 4-yard touchdown catch from Cory Christopher put Hofstra ahead by 11 points to give them enough cushion.

Wilson caught four passes for 65 yards for the Pride.

Hofstra held the Dukes to 56 yards passing and came away with three sacks and one interception. Christopher threw for 57 yards, completing 9 of 16 passes.
