St. Francis beats Duquesne 31-14

Oct 25, 2009 - 3:38 AM LORETTA, Pa.(AP) -- Jude Yearwood and Kyle Harbridge combined for 317 yards rushing and St. Francis (Pa.) defeated Duquesne 31-14 on Saturday night.

The Red Flashes rushed for 409 yards, the second highest total in school history, and the highest single-game total against a Division I opponent. The Red Flashes (2-6, 1-4 Northeast Conference) ran for 435 yards twice before, against Niagara in 1979 and Gallaudet in 1987.

Yearwood ran for 167 yards and Harbridge added 150, including 143 in the second half. It was the first time St. Francis had two 100-yard rushers since Sept. 11, 2004 against Sacred Heart.

The Red Flashes, playing without starting quarterback John Kelly due to illness, snapped a five-game losing streak and a 10-game skid against the Dukes (2-6, 1-4).

Duquesne, who had just 16 yards rushing, was led by Kevin Rombach with 139 yards and two touchdowns on 16-of-31 passing.
