Plancher has 2 TDs, South Florida beats FAU 31-3

Oct 3, 2010 - 2:21 AM By FRED GOODALL AP Sports Writer

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Moise Plancher rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns and South Florida's defense tied a school record with seven sacks Saturday night, leading the Bulls to a 31-3 rout of Florida Atlantic in their final tuneup for Big East play.

Plancher scored on runs of 5 and 1 yards. B.J. Daniels threw a 38-yard TD pass to Dontavia Bogan on a flea-flicker play, and Armand Sanchez returned a blocked punt 11 yards for USF (3-1), which begins conference play next week against Syracuse.

Florida Atlantic (1-2) entered the game averaging 262 yards passing. However, with little time to throw, Jeff Van Camp had just 136 yards, no touchdowns and one interception on 17-of-22 passing before leaving the game after being sacked for the seventh time.

Daniels completed 10 of 15 passes for 130 yards. Bogan's touchdown reception put the Bulls up 21-3 early in the third quarter, and the senior receiver finished with four receptions for 62 yards.

USF played without leading rusher Demetris Murray, who sat out with a sore ankle that he injured during last week's 24-12 victory over Western Kentucky. Plancher took up the slack, rushing for 52 yards in the first half and scoring on a 5-yard run, which was set up by safety Jerrell Young's interception on FAU's first possession of the night.

Plancher amassed his season-high rushing total on 20 carries. The redshirt senior, who received a sixth year of eligibility after injuring a knee in 2006, leads the Bulls with four touchdowns.

Van Camp had an 11-yard run and completed passes of 11 yards to Rob Housler, 13 yards to Lester Jean and 14 yards to Darian Williams, helping FAU drive 68 yards in 15 plays to trim USF's lead to 14-3 on Ross Gornall's 29-yard field goal just before halftime.

Van Camp was sacked four times in the opening half and three more times in the third quarter. Jean, averaging 105 yards per game receiving, had seven receptions for 58 yards as FAU lost its third straight game following a season-opening win over UAB.
