Missouri State charges past Youngstown State 35-25

Oct 2, 2010 - 10:55 PM SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) -- Missouri State's defense turned two turnovers into big second-half touchdowns to give the Bears the momentum and an eventual 35-25 win over Youngstown State on Saturday.

The Bears (2-2, 1-1 Missouri Valley) were down at halftime following two scoring runs by Jamaine Cook, including one for 71 yards, that put the Penguins (3-2, 1-1) up 17-7.

But with about three and a half minutes left in the third quarter, Missouri State got its first defensive TD when cornerback Howard Scarborough picked up a fumble in the end zone.

The second came on the next drive when linebacker Adam Beauchamp snagged an interception and ran it 40 yards for the score.

The momentum continued in the fourth quarter as the Bears' Chris Douglas ran for a touchdown and Cody Kirby threw for another, his second of the game.

Kirby finished with 298 yards passing.
