New Hampshire blanks mistake-prone Richmond 17-0

Oct 9, 2010 - 8:24 PM DURHAM, N.H. (AP) -- John Greer scored off an interception and New Hampshire recorded six interceptions to earn its first Colonial Athletic Association win this season, shutting out Richmond 17-0 on Saturday.

Greer, who finished with two interceptions, returned one of them for a 40-yard touchdown to give the Wildcats (3-3, 1-2) a 7-0 lead. Mike Perkins also picked off two passes, and Dino Vasso and Kyle Flemings each had one interception.

R.J. Toman, who went 20 of 29 passing for 166 yards, connected with Joey Orlando on a 20-yard touchdown to push New Hampshire's margin to 14 points early in the third.

Nick Hicks threw for 64 yards and five interceptions, completing 9 of 27 passes for the Spiders (2-3, 0-2). Aaron Corp had 7 passing yards and one interception.

New Hampshire linebacker Matt Evans finished with 12 tackles, one sack and one fumble recovery.
