Louisiana-Monroe holds off Florida-Atlantic 20-17

Oct 10, 2010 - 2:47 AM MONROE, La. (AP) -- Jyruss Edwards ran for just 13 yards, but his 5-yard touchdown was the difference as Louisiana-Monroe came from behind to beat Florida-Atlantic 20-17 in Sun Belt Conference play on Saturday night.

Trailing 17-12 with 4:24 remaining in the game, the Warhawks (2-3, 1-1) recovered a fumble on their own 45-yard line needing a touchdown to take the lead.

A 13-yard completion for a first down on the third play of the drive and a 15-yard roughing-the-passer penalty gave Louisiana-Monroe the ball at the Owls' 16-yard line.

Two more passes from Kolton Browning moved the Warhawks down to the Florida-Atlantic 5-yard line before Edwards scored from five yards out with 2:43 left.

Browning converted the two-point conversion on a pass to Brent Leonard to make to score 20-17.

Alfred Morris ran for 156 yards and two touchdowns in the loss for the Owls.
