Sacramento State beats Northern Colorado 42-7

Oct 10, 2010 - 12:15 AM SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- Bryan Hilliard rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns, and Sacramento State broke the game open with special teams and defense in a 42-7 victory against Northern Colorado on Saturday.

The Hornets (3-3, 2-2 Big Sky) struck in the third quarter.

Corey Vanderbeek blocked Cameron Kaman's punt, and Randey Peterson returned the ball 3 yards for a touchdown. Later, defensive lineman Zack Nash caused quarterback Matt Baca to fumble, and David Coleman picked it up and ran 5 yards for a score, giving Sacramento State a 28-7 advantage.

Patrick Walker had five receptions for 97 yards and a touchdown for Northern Colorado (2-4, 1-3).

Jeff Fleming threw for 184 yards and two TDs for the Hornets.
