Villanova holds on to beat James Madison 14-7

Oct 23, 2010 - 11:24 PM VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) -- Chris Whitney passed for two second-quarter touchdowns and James Pitts intercepted a pass in the end zone as time expired as Villanova held on to defeat James Madison 14-7 Saturday.

Whitney passed 7 yards to Norman White with 4:19 left in the second quarter, completing a 15-play, 80-yard drive that gave the Wildcats (5-2, 3-1 Colonial Athletic Association) a 7-0 lead.

Three minutes later, a 54-yard pass to Mikey Reynolds completed a four-play, 71-yard drive and gave Villanova a 14-0 lead.

The Dukes (4-3, 1-3) opened the second half with a nine-play, 73-yard drive and closed within 14-7 on Kavon Seaton's 2-yard touchdown run.

Villanova drove to the James Madison 2 before losing a fumble that was recovered by Taveion Cuffee. The Dukes took over with 1:38 left and reached the Villanova 36 before Pitts' interception.
