Alabama State shuts out Savannah State 24-0

Oct 23, 2010 - 9:31 PM MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Devin Dominguez completed 18 of 27 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns as Alabama State beat Savannah State 24-0 on Saturday.

The Hornets (4-3) took a 7-0 lead in the second quarter after an 8-yard touchdown pass from Dominguez to Nick Andrews.

Dominguez hooked up with Landon Jones on a 12-yard scoring pass in the third quarter as Alabama State entered the fourth with a 14-0 lead.

Florida Gators transfer Jacques Rickerson returned an interception 59 yards for a score less than two minutes into the final quarter as the Hornets took a 21-0 lead over the Tigers (0-8).

Andrew Lyons added a 36-yard field goal with 5:54 remaining in the game.

Jordan McFadden had a game-high 91 yards receiving for Alabama State in the victory, while the Hornets defense held Savannah State to 167 yards of total offense.
