Piatkowski's 4 TDs lead Drake to 42-10 victory

Oct 23, 2010 - 10:33 PM DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Mike Piatkowski threw for three touchdowns and ran for another Saturday as Drake defeated Davidson 42-10.

Piatkowski had TD passes of 11, 27 and 13 yards and capped the scoring with a 22-yard run for the Bulldogs (5-3, 4-1 Pioneer). He completed 19 of 27 passes for 222 yards.

Drake's defense returned two interceptions for touchdowns - 36 yards by Dain Taylor in the second quarter and 40 yards by Mike Lahart in the fourth.

Davidson (2-5, 2-3) had pulled within 14-10 on a 21-yard field goal by Ben Behrendt with 13:27 left in the game before Drake scored 28 unanswered points.

Davidson's Jonathan Carkhuff broke a 37-year-old school record by completing 41 passes - passing Dave Harper's 37 completions against William & Mary in 1973. Carkhuff was 41 of 56 for 306 yards. Davidson was held to minus-5 yards rushing after losing 33 yards on four sacks.
