Bethune-Cookman picks off NC Central 23-10

Oct 23, 2010 - 10:39 PM DURHAM, N.C. (AP) -- Ryan Lewis returned an interception 67 yards for a touchdown and quarterback Matt Johnson gained 56 of his 71 rushing yards in the first quarter, helping Bethune-Cookman to a 23-10 win over North Carolina Central on Saturday.

Johnson had a 25-yard run on the opening drive by the Wildcats (7-0), which ended with Isidore Jackson's 7-yard touchdown run.

The Eagles (2-5) then drove to the Bethune-Cookman 38 before Lewis intercepted Keon Williams' pass at the 33 and returned it all the way.

The linebacker also had two sacks among his seven tackles and forced a fumble.

Trailing 14-3 at halftime, North Carolina Central made it 14-10 on Arthur Goforth's 8-yard run.

Johnson responded with a 50-yard pass to Jevaughn Reams on the Wildcats' next play and hit Eddie Poole for a 7-yard score three plays later to make it 20-10.

Johnson completed 13 of 25 for 167 yards.
