North Carolina Central defeats Edward Waters 20-7

Oct 30, 2010 - 11:12 PM DURHAM, N.C. (AP) -- Geovonie Irvine caught a touchdown pass and had 153 yards receiving to help North Carolina Central defeat Edward Waters 20-7 on Saturday.

The Tigers (3-5) scored the game's first 20 points, starting with Tim Shankle's 22-yard TD run with 9:33 left in the first quarter.

North Carolina Central then opened the second quarter on a 47-yard touchdown pass from Michael Johnson to Irvine. Justin Manning's 1-yard touchdown run closed the scoring for the Eagles.

Johnson finished with 220 yards and two interceptions on 12-for-17 passing.

Both teams had similar yardage, with the Eagles gaining 220 and the Tigers 212, but Edward Waters (1-8) turned the ball over four times on interceptions.

Brandon Turman, who threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Quinntavious Graham with 3:11 left, was 19-for-36 with two interceptions and 220 yards for Edward Waters.
