South Alabama cruises past Lamar 26-0

Oct 17, 2010 - 3:33 AM BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) -- Lawson McGlon nailed four field goals and both of his extra point attempts to lift South Alabama to a 26-0 victory over Lamar on Saturday.

The Jaguars (6-0) got on the board early in the first quarter when linebacker Charlie Higgenbotham forced Cardinals (3-4) running back Octavious Logan to fumble. That gave fellow linebacker Josh Chestang the chance to pick it up and run 11 yards for the touchdown.

McGlon kicked his first field goal later in the quarter but missed a second attempt before halftime.

McGlon got three more field goals in the second half, and South Alabama made its only offensive touchdown in the third quarter when Brennan Sim connected with Ellis Hill. The Jaguars' Kendall Houston led the game in rushing with 166 yards.

The Cardinals' Andre Bevil finished throwing 15 for 35 for 105 yards.
