Arkansas beats Tennessee by 42

Nov 13, 2011 - 3:56 AM Fayetteville, AR (Sports Network) - Jarius Wright passed Anthony Eubanks on the all-time Arkansas receptions list as he caught five balls for 94 yards and a touchdown as the Razorbacks routed the Tennessee Volunteers, 49-7.

Wright's teammate, Joe Adams, tied Eubanks for second on the receptions list with a 40-yard TD reception in the third quarter. Adams finished the game with two catches for 52 yards.

"It's always good to break a record, especially in your home state and a place that you?ve played at for so long," Wright said. "It's great to know I broke a record and regardless if Joe (Adams) passes me or not, I'll be in the record books."

Tyler Wilson completed 16-of-26 passes for 224 yards with three touchdowns and an interception for the victors.

Dennis Johnson carried the ball 11 times for 97 yards and two scores for Arkansas (9-1, 5-1 SEC), which has won six straight since dropping a 38-14 decision against Alabama on September 24.

The Razorbacks still trail LSU by a game in the loss column for supremacy in the SEC West with two games left, but the two combatants will collide in the regular season finale. Alabama also has one loss.

Da'Rick Rogers hauled in five passes for 106 yards for the Volunteers (4-6, 0-6), who have dropped five of their last six games. They need wins in their last two games against Vanderbilt and Kentucky to become bowl eligible.

Justin Worley was 15-of-29 passing for 208 yards and an interception in the loss.

Arkansas took its opening possession 75 yards in 13 plays as Wilson found Wright for a seven-yard score. Wilson was 4-of-5 for 53 yards on the opening march.

Tennessee forced the first turnover of the game as Wilson was intercepted by Austin Johnson, but the Volunteers went three-and-out as they were unable to capitalize on the mistake.

Adams woke up the Arkansas faithful with an electrifying 60-yard punt return for a touchdown as he broke numerous tackles down the right sideline to give the Razorbacks a 14-0 lead late in the first quarter. It was Adams' third punt return for touchdown this season.

"On the punt return we had about five guys right there and we've got to finish him off," Tennessee head coach Derek Dooley said.

Johnson broke off a 71-yard touchdown run on a quick two-play drive early in the second quarter to give Arkansas a 21-0 lead.

The valiant Volunteers fought back on their ensuing drive as Rajion Neal concluded a five-play, 77-yard march with an 11-yard score.

Later in the quarter after a missed 40-yard field goal by Zach Hocker, Worley led his troops into the red zone with under a minute remaining in the half. But Tramain Thomas jumped on a slant pattern and intercepted the pass to maintain Arkansas' 21-7 lead at the break.

Wright had catches of 14 and 26 yards before Johnson got in for his second touchdown of the game with a 15-yard TD run to give Arkansas a 28-7 lead midway through the third quarter.

Worley's pass for DeAnthony Arnett fell incomplete on 4th-and-1 from the Tennessee 40, and Wilson connected with Adams on a deep post for a 40-yard touchdown on the first play of Arkansas' ensuing drive for a 35-7 advantage.

Broderick Green had a 10-yard TD reception and De'Anthony Curtis ran in from 26 yards out in the fourth quarter to conclude the scoring for Arkansas.
