No. 20 Baylor routs ULM

Sep 22, 2013 - 4:21 AM Waco, TX (Sports Network) - Bryce Petty had four touchdown passes and ran in a score as No. 20 Baylor took a 70-7 victory over Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday.

Petty went 18-for-27 for 351 yards and Antwan Goodley caught five passes for 156 yards and two scores for the Bears (3-0), who have won their first three games of the season by a combined score of 209-23.

"We've had three home games and we've taken advantage of being at home," said Baylor head coach Art Briles. "We've got good people. We've got a good football team. You combine those factors with people making plays on both sides of the ball and our special teams have been pretty good and we've been pretty clean."

Kolton Browning was just 17-for-41 for 219 yards and a touchdown along with two interceptions, both of which were returned for touchdowns, for the Warhawks (2-2), who were coming off wins over Grambling State and Wake Forest.

"We knew we were going to have to take some chances early on both sides of the field," said Louisiana-Monroe head coach Todd Berry. "When you take a lot of chances sometimes you get burned -- well, we got scalded."

The game was over before the first quarter ended as Baylor found the end zone five times in the frame.

Petty connected on touchdowns of 63 yards to Goodley and 47 yards to Tevin Reese, before Joe Williams picked off a pass and took it 41 yards for a score and a 21-0 lead just over seven minutes in.

The next touchdown was another one from the Baylor defense as Terrell Burt took another interceptions 63 yards for a score and the Bears recovered a Warhawks fumble on the ensuing kickoff, with Petty running the ball in from two yards out for a 35-0 lead going into the second quarter.

Petty's third touchdown pass of the game went to Goodley for 65 yards, before Browning and Harley Scioneaux got together on a 9-yard score.

Petty's 23-yard TD pass to Clay Fuller late in the half made it a 49-7 game at the break.

Baylor found the end zone three more times in the third quarter thanks to a 75-yard touchdown run from Lache Seastrunk, 10-yard TD run by Shock Linwood, and a 65-yard TD catch be Levi Norwood from Seth Russell.
