Final
Miller, Ohio State roll past Penn State
Oct 27, 2013 - 5:30 AM Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Quarterback Braxton Miller accounted for five touchdowns -- three passing and two rushing -- and No. 4 Ohio State rolled to a 63-14 win over Penn State on Saturday.Miller threw for 252 yards and touchdown passes to Chris Fields, Corey Brown and Dontre Wilson. Carlos Hyde rushed for 147 yards with two scores for Ohio State (8-0, 4-0 Big Ten).
The Buckeyes, No. 4 in the first BCS standings released this week, moved to 20-0 under coach Urban Meyer.
"This was a really big game for us," said Wilson. "For us to win a game against Penn State, who just beat Michigan, is big."
Freshman Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg threw an interception in the end zone and had another pick lead to an Ohio State touchdown. He passed for 112 yards and a touchdown but came out in the third quarter. Sophomore Tyler Ferguson passed for 125 yards and a score after that.
"He's a tough kid. He didn't feel good about throwing but he said he wanted to keep going," Penn State coach Bill O'Brien said of Hackenberg. "I thought it was in the best interest of the team to put in Ferguson."
Brandon Felder had a 12-yard touchdown catch for the Nittany Lions (4-3, 1-2) and Allen Robinson added a 65-yard touchdown reception. Bill Belton rushed for 98 yards.
Robinson's touchdown was a highlight for Penn State. He ran a lot farther than 65 yards on the play, catching the ball on the right side, reversing back to the left, then cutting through the middle of the field and down the right sideline before diving into the end zone for the game's final points.
Earlier, Ohio State went 75 yards on the game's first drive and Hyde scored on a 2-yard run.
Corey Brown -- the Buckeyes safety, not wide receiver -- picked Hackenberg off in the end zone on Penn State's first possession, killing a 69-yard drive, and Miller gave Ohio State a 14-0 lead on a quarterback draw, breaking a tackle near the 5 for the 39-yard score late in the first quarter.
His 6-yard touchdown run came after Hackenberg was intercepted by C.J. Barnett near midfield. Miller's 3-yard TD pass to Fields then made it 28-0 with 8:24 left in the first half.
Felder's catch got Penn State on the board but Hyde made a cut in the middle of the line and went left on a 39-yard touchdown run to make it 35-7. Ohio State took a 42-7 lead into halftime after Brown's 25-yard touchdown catch.
A Penn State fumble led to Wilson's 26-yard touchdown catch and Kenny Guiton scored on a 2-yard run to make it 56-7. Guiton added an 11-yard score in the fourth quarter.
