Youngstown State rolls past Northeastern 38-21

Sep 19, 2009 - 9:05 PM BROOKLINE, Mass.(AP) -- Youngstown State's Brandon Summers rushed for three touchdowns and passed for another, leading the Penguins to a 38-21 win over Northeastern on Saturday.

Summers was 16 of 24 for 159 yards with two interceptions, and also rushed for 73 yards on nine carries for Youngstown State (2-1). Dominique Barnes caught seven passes for 88 yards and a score, and Andre Elliott had a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Trailing 14-7 midway through the second quarter, Summers connected with Barnes for his only passing touchdown, a 32-yard score that pulled the Penguins even at 14-all going into halftime.

Elliot's interception put the Penguins ahead 24-14 midway through the third, but the Huskies (0-3) got within 24-21 on Tony Torres' 2-yard rushing score.

Summers, who was sacked three times, scored on runs of 1 and 73 yards in the fourth quarter.
