Clemson takes a break from ACC, hosts Louisiana Tech

Sep 26, 2006 - 8:39 PM Louisiana Tech (1-2) at No. 18 Clemson (3-1), 7:00 pm EDT

CLEMSON, South Carolina (Ticker) - Clemson is back on track after a tough loss and should have little problem continuing its run Saturday.

Winners of two straight following a double-overtime loss to Boston College, the 18th-ranked Tigers host Louisiana Tech in a non-conference matchup Saturday.

Three weeks ago, Clemson lost a 34-33 heartbreaker to Boston College on a blocked extra point in the second extra period. The Tigers (3-1) rebounded with a 27-20 win at Florida State and a 52-7 rout of North Carolina last week.

James Davis leads the Atlantic Coast Conference and is tied for third nationally in scoring (13.5 points per game), and has scored in eight consecutive games. Last season's ACC Freshman of the Year, Davis ran for 95 yards and four touchdowns in less than three quarters against the Tar Heels.

Out to a 3-1 start for the first time since 2003, Clemson has won both meetings against Louisiana Tech, outscoring the Bulldogs by a combined 82-37.

Louisiana Tech (1-2) is coming off a 45-14 loss to Texas A&M and its only win this season is a 31-21 victory over Division I-AA Nicholls State.
