Sacred Heart beats St. Francis 29-7

Oct 10, 2009 - 9:22 PM FAIRFIELD, Conn.(AP) -- Brian Friedman ran for two touchdowns and Sacred Heart defeated St. Francis 29-7 on Saturday.

The Pioneers (1-4, 1-2 Northeastern Conference) shut down St. Francis' running game, holding the Red Flash to minus 3 yards on 31 attempts.

Sacred Heart had three rushing touchdowns and finished with 206 yards on the ground - 134 by Friedman.

The Pioneers took an early 2-0 lead on a safety. The Red Flash snapped the ball over punter Grant Price's head on their first possession of the game, and the ball rolled out of the end zone.

Dale Fink, who connected with Steve Tedesco for 8 yards for the Pioneers' next score, finished with 123 yards passing.

Sacred Heart extended its lead to 22-0 on a 63-yard run by Friedman and a 20-yard score by Gary Coles.

John Kelly led the Red Flash (1-5, 0-3) with 183 yards on 19-of-30 passing.
