Alcorn State defeats Mississippi Valley 32-10

Oct 11, 2009 - 2:18 AM LORMAN, Miss.(AP) -- Tim Buckley threw two touchdown passes and Alcorn State set a Football Championship Subdivision record with 14 sacks in a 32-10 victory over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday.

Malcolm Taylor had 3 1/2 sacks and Brandon Morris and Carl Harris had three each as the Braves (1-3, 1-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference) broke the record of 12 set by Illinois State on Nov. 4, 2000.

Morris scored Alcorn State's final touchdown when Caesar Cobb sacked Mississippi Valley State's Marvin Pittman and Morris returned the fumble 24 yards for a 32-10 lead with 7:38 remaining.

Paul Roberts was sacked nine times and Pittman was sacked five times.

Buckley was 13 of 20 for 195 yards and rushed for 47 yards on 15 carries for the Braves, who had 335 yards of offense.

Johey Hargrett scored on a 7-yard run for the Delta Devils (2-3, 1-2).
