McNeese State edges past Texas State 30-27

Nov 15, 2009 - 4:39 AM SAN MARCOS, Texas(AP) -- Josh Lewis kicked a 28-yard field goal in the final minute and a half on Saturday night to take McNeese State to a 30-27 win over Texas State.

After the kick, the Bobcats (6-4, 4-2 Southland) tried to come back by driving 41 yards on eight plays in just over a minute. But the Cowboys (8-2, 5-1) shut down the drive when Malcolm Bronson intercepted a pass by Bradley George on the McNeese 10.

Todd Pendland ran for three touchdowns and 187 yards for McNesse, and quarterback Derri Fourroux threw for 222 yards and a touchdown.

The Cowboys outrushed Texas State 250 yards to 95, but were slightly outgunned by the Bobcats 289 yards to 258.

Texas State's Alvin Canady also rushed for three touchdowns. George threw for 285 yards and a touchdown. He was sacked twice.
