Southern Illinois defeats Southeast Missouri 42-24

Nov 21, 2009 - 10:16 PM CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.(AP) -- Quarterback Paul McIntosh rushed for three touchdowns and threw for another to help Southern Illinois defeat Southeast Missouri 42-24 on Saturday in a regular-season finale.

McIntosh scored on runs of 15, 2 and 3 yards and tossed a 10-yard TD pass for the Salukis (10-1, 8-0 Missouri Valley).

Matt Scheible completed 10 of 18 passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns for Southeast Missouri (2-9, 1-7). Miles Edwards caught two passes for 59 yards and two touchdowns for the Redhawks.

Deji Karim, a Walter Payton Award candidate for Southern Illinois who entered the game ranked third nationally in rushing at 7.2 yards per carry, rushed 16 times for 155 yards and two touchdowns. He scored on a 10-yard run in the second quarter and on a 70-yard run on the first play of a drive in the third.
