South Dakota State defeats Western Illinois 27-7

Nov 21, 2009 - 10:56 PM MACOMB, Ill.(AP) -- Kyle Minett ran for 147 yards and two touchdowns Saturday as South Dakota State defeated Western Illinois 27-7.

Minett's 39-yard run, on the second play from scrimmage following Aaron Rollin's 45-yard kickoff return, gave the Jackrabbits (8-3, 7-1 Missouri Valley) a fast 7-0 lead.

Western Illinois (1-10, 0-8) came back on Dre Gibbs' 25-yard scoring run on the first play after Ed Roberts intercepted a South Dakota State pass. But that was the end of the scoring for the Leathernecks, although Gibbs ran for 103 yards in the game.

Minett scored again on a 1-yard run in the second quarter, and Thomas O'Brien threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Glen Fox for South Dakota State.
