Appalachian State defeats Western Carolina 19-14

Nov 22, 2009 - 12:44 AM BOONE, N.C.(AP) -- Devon Moore rushed for two touchdowns and a career-high 191 yards in Appalachian State's 19-14 win over Western Carolina on Saturday.

The Mountaineers(9-2, 8-0 Southern Conference) rushed for 255 yards and won their 20th straight game in conference play, tying Alabama (1924-26) and Tulane (1929-32) for the second-most consecutive wins in SoCon history.

Western Carolina (2-8, 1-7) led 7-3 before Moore scored on a 20-yard run with 13:06 left in the third quarter.

The Mountaineers then scored a safety on a sack with 14:45 remaining. A 1-yard run by Moore gave the Mountaineers a 19-7 lead with 12:57 to play.

Appalachian State's Travaris Cadet was 8 of 16 for 101 yards and ran for 58 yards on 13 carries in his first start, replacing Armanti Edwards who was out with a knee injury.

Western Carolina's Michael Johnson rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries.
