Portland State holds off UC Davis 41-33

Sep 12, 2010 - 4:58 AM DAVIS, Calif.(AP) -- Cory McCaffrey ran for 118 yards and a touchdown Saturday night as Portland State held off UC Davis 41-33.

The Vikings (1-1) had 257 yards rushing compared to 70 for UC Davis, and needed every bit of them to outscore the Aggies (0-2).

Portland State led 14-3 after Joel Sisler returned an interception 33 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter. From there, the teams traded scores as UC Davis rallied five times to come within a touchdown of the Vikings, only to see Portland State answer each time with a score of its own.

Connor Kavanaugh was 15 for 24 with one touchdown for the Vikings, and added 63 yards on the ground.

Portland State did not punt during the game.

UC Davis' Randy Wright completed 20 of 32 passes for 261 yards, two TDs and two interceptions.
