Youngstown State 63-24 beats Cent Conn State 63-24

Sep 19, 2010 - 1:18 AM YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio,(AP) -- Jermaine Cook had a career-high 179 yards rushing and three touchdowns in Youngstown State's 63-24 win over Central Connecticut State on Saturday.

The 63 points scored matched a school record set against Alcorn State on Nov. 25, 1994.

Cook started the scoring on a 45-yard run with 13:22 left in the first quarter. The sophomore then topped that career high on a 52-yard touchdown nine seconds into the second quarter. Cook would add one more long touchdown run, going 23 yards to put Youngstown State ahead 42-17 late in the third quarter.

The Penguins (2-1) finished with 513 yards of total offense, 322 on the ground. Adaris Bellamy and Jordan Thompson added two more rushing touchdowns each for Youngstown State.

Everette Benjamin finished with 85 yards on 14 carries for the Blue Devils (1-2) in the first meeting between the teams.
