Alabama State takes down Prairie View 18-15

Sep 19, 2010 - 1:57 AM PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas(AP) -- Andrew Lyons nailed a 47-yard field goal with 23 seconds left to lift Alabama State to a 18-15 win over Prairie View A&M on Saturday.

The Hornets (3-0, 3-0 Southeastern) were down 7-12 going into the fourth quarter, but Devin Dominguez found Nick Andrews in the end zone with 10 minutes left and then connected with Chad Griffin for the 2-point conversion.

The Panthers (1-2, 1-1) later tied it at 15 on a field goal by Brady Faggard from 42 yards with 1:55 left, but ASU drove 34 yards in nine plays after the next kickoff to set up Lyons for the winning field goal.

Prairie View held the lead most of the game thanks to a team safety in the first quarter, a 19-yard scoring run by Donald Babers in the second and a field goal by Kyle Mathews in the third.
