Exciting finish as UTEP beats Memphis 16-13

Sep 26, 2010 - 5:10 AM EL PASO, Texas(AP) -- Dakota Warren nailed a game-winning field goal with no time left on the clock to lift UTEP to a 16-13 win over Memphis on Saturday night.

The field goal was Warren's third of the game, including a 50-yard boot to tie it at 13-13 with about five and a half minutes left.

The Tigers (1-3, 0-2 Conference USA) were up 10-3 at halftime, thanks in part to a TD pass from Ryan Williams to Jermaine McKenzie.

The Miners (3-1, 1-1) came back to tie it at 10-10 in the third quarter with a scoring run by Joe Banyard, but Memphis went up again early in the final period on a field goal by Paulo Henriques, his second.

After Warren tied it at 13-all, UTEP held Memphis to just four more plays.

The Miners got the ball at their own 4-yard line on the ensuing punt and proceeded to drive it 95 yards up field in the final 3:13 to set Warren up for the game winner.
