Bethune-Cookman beats Delaware State 47-24

Oct 10, 2010 - 12:13 AM DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Androse Bell rushed for two touchdowns and Matt Johnson accounted for two scores to lead Bethune-Cookman to a 47-24 win on Saturday night.

Bethune-Cookman (5-0, 3-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) won its first five games to start the season for the fifth time in the Wildcats' 85-year football history and first since 2002.

Bell opened the scoring at 4:23 of the first quarter on a 1-yard run. He added a 3-yard run near the end of the first half to put Bethune-Cookman ahead 27-2.

The Hornets (0-3, 0-5) struggled against Bethune-Cookman's defense in the first half. But Delaware State did score two points after returning a blocked extra point in the first quarter.

Johnson, who completed 16 of 21 passes, finished with 259 yards. He scored on a 1-yard run in the second quarter and threw for a 41-yard touchdown to Jevaughn Reams in the third.
