South Dakota State beats Western Illinois 33-29

Oct 10, 2010 - 3:02 AM BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) -- Kyle Minett rushed for three touchdowns and 143 yards to lead South Dakota State past Western Illinois 33-29 Saturday.

Thomas O'Brien connected with Colin Cochart on a scoring pass that secured the win for the Jackrabbits (1-4, 1-2, Missouri Valley). O'Brien finished with 206 passing yards.

Tyler Duffy also rushed for a touchdown.

Matt Barr threw for 351 yards and four touchdowns for the Leathernecks (4-2, 2-1), including a 46-yarder to Terriun Crump early in the fourth quarter that put Western Illinois ahead 21-14.

Barr threw a TD pass to Josh Gabelmann with 4:30 left and completed a 2-point conversion pass to Aaron Muhammad, allowing the Leathernecks to take the lead again, 29-26.

SDSU answered with O'Brien's TD pass with 1:36 left in the game.

The victory saved the Jackrabbits from an 0-5 start, the worst in program history.
