Ellis leads UAB to 21-6 upset of UTEP

Oct 16, 2010 - 11:48 PM BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- Bryan Ellis threw for 272 yards and three touchdowns, two to Frantrell Forrest, as Alabama-Birmingham rolled up 500 yards total offense Saturday in a 21-6 upset of UTEP.

Ellis completed 20 of 28 passes as the Blazers (2-4, 1-2 Conference USA) came from behind for the win with scoring drives of 74, 80 and 99 yards.

The Miners (5-2, 2-2) led 6-0 on 25- and 20-yard field goals by Dakota Warren before Ellis' first touchdown pass, a 3-yarder to Jeffrey Anderson with 2:40 left in the third quarter.

Ellis hit Forrest with a 20-yard touchdown with 13:12 left in the fourth quarter. After the Miners downed a punt at the UAB 1, Ellis led a 14-play, 99-yard drive that took 7:59 and ended with a 10-yard touchdown pass to Forrest with 4:06 left.

Forrest finished with seven catches for 99 yards.
