Troy holds off Louisiana-Lafayette 31-24

Oct 17, 2010 - 2:52 AM TROY, Ala. (AP) -- Jerrel Jernigan scored two touchdowns as Troy knocked off Louisiana-Lafayette 31-24 on Saturday night.

Jernigan, who caught six passes to set Troy's career record for receptions with 219, scored on a 12-yard touchdown pass from Corey Robinson with 4:43 remaining to give Troy the lead for good. Earlier, Jernigan's 75-yard punt return for a score put the Trojans (4-2, 3-0 Sun Belt Conference) up 21-17 in the second quarter.

Louisiana-Lafayette (2-4, 2-2) got two 1-yard touchdown runs from backup quarterback Brad McGuire in the first half. Troy led 17-14 at halftime.

Chris Masson hit Marlin Miller with a 5-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter for the Ragin' Cajuns, but Troy took a 24-21 lead on Jonathan Chandler's 34-yard touchdown pass to Jason Bruce on a trick play.

Troy's Robinson threw three interceptions, but was 23-for-33 for 237 yards.
